Wolfpack Connect is for students who:
- Are enrolled or plan to enroll at a North Carolina Community College.

Students should have at least one year left of coursework (30 or more college credits) to complete at their community college when they start the program.

Due to federal immigration and financial documentation requirements, students who require F-1 or J-1 visa sponsorship at the time of transfer are not eligible for Wolfpack Connect. Students on these visa types are welcome to apply through our traditional transfer admissions process.

Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve provided the answers to some of the most common questions we receive about Wolfpack Connect below. If your questions are not answered, let us know.
Should I apply to Wolfpack Connect if I’ve been deferred or denied admission?
There are multiple pathways to NC State, and the best next step can vary depending on your academic background and goals. We encourage students to complete our Which Transfer Pathway is for Me form to better understand which option may be the best fit for them, including Wolfpack Connect. Our team is also available to talk through your individual circumstances and help you determine the most appropriate next steps.
When should I submit an eligibility form for Wolfpack Connect?
The Wolfpack Connect eligibility form is now open for students interested in a fall 2026 start. Submit your form by July 1 to be considered. The form will reopen on August 1 for students seeking participation in the following spring and fall semesters.
In order to qualify for Wolfpack Connect, you will need to have 30 transferable credits or less completed or in progress* at the time you start as a participant in the program, be enrolled at or planning to enroll at a North Carolina Community College and plan to pursue one of our eligible majors.
*It’s important to note that your in-progress credits would include any courses you are registered for in an upcoming semester that you would complete prior to starting the Wolfpack Connect program.
When will I receive a decision on if I am eligible for Wolfpack Connect?
We will notify students of their eligibility on specific dates throughout the spring and fall semesters. Specific notification dates are as follows:
Fall start:
- February 28
- April 30
- June 15
- July 15
Spring start:
- November 15
Do I have to complete a transfer application at the end of the Wolfpack Connect program?
No, you will not need to complete a separate application to transfer to NC State. You will, however, be asked to confirm your intent to enroll as you near the end of the Wolfpack Connect program.
What is the difference between C3 and Wolfpack Connect?
While both C3 and Wolfpack Connect offer transfer students guaranteed admission, there are a few key differences between the two programs. Use this Which Transfer Pathway is for Me? form to determine which transfer pathway is the best fit for you.
- Income Requirement: C3 requires students to be from a low- to moderate-income family, while Wolfpack Connect has no income requirement.
- Residency Requirement: C3 requires students to be a resident of North Carolina. While Wolfpack Connect requires students to earn an associate degree from a North Carolina Community College, it does not require North Carolina residency to be eligible for the program.
- Associate Degrees Accepted: C3 accepts students who earn an Associate in Arts (AA), Associate in Science (AS), or Associate in Engineering (AE). Wolfpack Connect accepts students with an AA or AS degree.
- Partner Institutions: The list of participating community colleges varies between the two programs.
- Support Services: C3 provides a structured network of support services, including academic advising and networking events. Wolfpack Connect guides participants through automated planning through tools like the NC State Transfer Planner and transfer guides.
Will my community college be invited to participate in Wolfpack Connect?
We are pleased to confirm that we have partnered with all 58 North Carolina Community Colleges for this guaranteed transfer admission program.
If you are a student at a different community college or four-year institution, we encourage you to explore our traditional transfer pathway.
Can I change my Wolfpack Connect major after transferring to NC State?
We strongly recommend that you enter the Wolfpack Connect program with a major you are committed to completing for your four-year degree. Once enrolled at NC State, changing your major will be highly unlikely. Since your community college coursework is mapped specifically to your intended Wolfpack Connect major, attempting a change post-transfer would likely result in an extended time to graduation.
Does guaranteed admission mean guaranteed financial aid or scholarships?
No, guaranteed admission through the Wolfpack Connect program is a separate process from financial aid and scholarships. We encourage all applicants to NC State to complete the FAFSA by our priority deadline of March 1. Once you are formally admitted to NC State, you will receive access to PACK ASSIST, our scholarship portal, where you can apply for a variety of scholarships.
Are Wolfpack Connect participants eligible for the Goodnight Scholarship?
Yes, Wolfpack Connect participants are eligible to be considered for the Goodnight Scholars Program Transfer Scholarship, given the major they pursue is in STEM or STEM education.
Invitations to apply for the scholarship are typically sent to eligible candidates in mid-March after they have applied for fall admission to NC State or enrolled during the spring of that year. Learn more about the scholarship and eligibility requirements at goodnight.ncsu.edu/transfer-scholars.
Can early college students participate in Wolfpack Connect?
Yes, but early college students must submit the Wolfpack Connect eligibility form during their junior year of high school, before they have attempted 30 transferable college credits. Students who plan to complete their Associate in Arts (AA) or Associate in Science (AS) degree prior to graduating from high school should also review our dedicated Early College information page. Applying as a first-year student may offer a better path to access certain NC State scholarships and housing opportunities.
Can College and Career Promise (CCP) students qualify for Wolfpack Connect?
Yes, but CCP students must submit the eligibility form during their senior year of high school, before they have attempted 30 transferable college credits. They would participate in the Wolfpack Connect program during their first year post-high school graduation at a partner North Carolina Community College, where they plan to complete their AA or AS degree, and then transfer to NC State in a subsequent year. Students who complete an associate’s degree before graduating from a traditional high school/non-Cooperative Innovative High School are unable to apply as a transfer student, and are therefore not eligible for the Wolfpack Connect guaranteed transfer pathway.
I have already earned more than 30 transferable college credits. Am I still eligible for Wolfpack Connect?
A key requirement for students starting in Wolfpack Connect is that they must have one year’s worth of credits (usually about 30) left to earn at their community college.
While they may not meet the eligibility requirements for Wolfpack Connect, students who have already earned more than 30 transferable credits are still encouraged to apply for admission through our traditional transfer pathway. If you have been following the transfer guide for your intended major and maintaining strong academic performance (e.g., a 3.0+ GPA), you remain a competitive candidate for admission to the majors included in Wolfpack Connect. The eligible majors in the Wolfpack Connect program were selected with the goal of broad access in mind. Our long-term vision is to continue expanding pathways that open doors for students across North Carolina to pursue an education at NC State.
